ARTIST STATEMENT
My piece is planet sundae, it is a combination of the work of Samy Charnine and a sundae. What he does is he takes objects and puts them in places where they shouldn’t be, like trash on the moon. I thought that it would be a really cool to put planets in a bowl, like the picture of oranges we have in our classroom. But I felt that it was too simple and it needed something else. So I decided to turn a simple bowl of planets into a planet sundae. It was a very long and arduous process, I had to take real pictures of planets and cut out the planets. Then I had to paste them all into the glass bowl and add the whipped cream and spoon. The glass bowl was very hard to make look like glass because it was very hard to find a bowl without any colored background behind it. I had to find a bowl with a white background and then slowly erase the whiteness by changing the opacity of the eraser. I am really proud of how well this piece turned out as how I had never used photoshop before.
