Dream of a Wonderful World
The theme to my work was simply contrast; the idea between vivid and muddied. The inspiration for this piece was the song “What a Wonderful World”, and the idea of dreaming or wanting an ideal world, when the reality is very different. I incorporated a dystopian vibe as well, as that is one of my favourite genres. I had to learn about printmaking and the process behind printing, (a medium I never have used before) combined with a medium I am familiar with which is colored pencil. This work means a lot to me. It’s one of the biggest pieces I’ve done in regards to size as well as being the most challenging. It was a lot to tackle, and completing it was relieving and satisfying to see the end. Most of all, the feedback was positive, and I myself believe it is one of my best works to date.
