ARTIST STATEMENT
I enjoy photographing meaningful places as a way of documenting meaningful experiences. One of my favorite things to do is sit on a cliff overlooking the ocean and wait for the train to come by. I am not quite sure why, but I have always had a fascination with passing trains and felt it would be a worthy subject for a tilt shift photograph. Thus, I went to a trail that runs parallel to the coast, sat on a short wooden bench, and waited for the whistle of the train to blow. I really enjoy the ability of the tilt shift effect to make life-sized objects appear as miniature plastic models of reality, and I hoped to accomplish it here in this image. |
