Kyler |
ARTIST STATEMENT
In this work I captured a moment from life passing by; an attractive guy who brought a sense of intimidation with him. I was inspired to do this piece, after I had seen Kyler walking in my school hallway and knew at that moment I had to paint him. It is an expression of my feelings towards him. Using acrylic paint, I was able to layer many different textures and colors underneath the portrait. I used bricks to create rhythm in the background, while Kyler was painted on the right to create asymmetrical balance. This contrasts with the rhythm found in the background. Taking a risk in my artwork helped me break the rhythm of my everyday reality. |
