ARTIST STATEMENT

For a long time now I have been working on different styles of art and have been trying to find new ways to express myself. I have found that I enjoy making organic type work because nature is always changing and that change will always be beautiful. My admiration for organic work reflects in my sculpture. I sculpted the tree, it was not fully grown with leaves and roots, but still small and not yet at its highest potential. I painted the tree with a gradient because I really wanted to focus on the tree and its growth. I feel like I made this sculpture to mirror myself and where I am in my life right now. I am at the point where I am starting to grow into the person I want to be and I of course haven't yet reached my full potential.
