I shot the ‘Storm Helix’ with my GoPro Hero 4 Silver while revisiting a memorable location from my childhood. The spot that this shot was taken at is the tunnel connecting the Carmel Mountain Ranch Library to the Highland Ranch Park. I was inspired by my desire for adventure as I enjoy traveling to locations that are deserted at night as I feel vulnerable by having nobody else in sight. This spot was very ideal for the shot I had pre visualized as there was very little light pollution in such a easy-access location that nobody would transverse in the night. This photo is successful due to the unique composition given by placing a GoPro so close to the ground on a tripod which greatly brought out the texture of the wood chips and dirt scattered throughout the tunnel. I also find it successful due to the unique lighting of the shot that I managed with a emergency flashlight that shines red on the back while acting as a normal day to day flashlight. I hope to progress my photography skills by experimenting with different lights and lighting styles in many diverse locations. |
