ARTIST STATEMENT
My name is Connor Cochran. I am 17 years old attending Carlsbad High school. I started photography about one year ago and have never been able to put my camera down since. My older bother Trevor, really was the cause for my interest in photography. He was always taking pictures everywhere and showing me how cool they always were. He was my major push to wanting to buy a camera. Ever since I took my first few pictures people have been telling me that I am going to go somewhere in life with photography.
My favorite photographer Chris Burkard has inspired me to shoot and explore the outdoors. As soon as I saw one of his amazing star trail photographs, I was determined to take one for myself. I produced “Time” with four hours of time lapse images layered together into one photograph. “California Perfection” was created by using a slow shutter at the beach. In this image I really wanted to capture the beauty of California beaches. I tried to find the perfect day with good lighting and a sunset to cast a warm feel to the image. I had to roll up my pants and get wet cause this water was not stopping. After getting soaked, I was stoked to see the image that I captured. Photography continues to amaze me daily. Being surrounded by people such as my photography teacher Mrs. King helps push me to expand my photography skills and develop new techniques. I have learned that photography can be more than a hobby that I do in my free time. This can be a career and a future. |
