ARTIST STATEMENT

“Tiny Vessels” is an embroidered self-portrait.  I was inspired by embroidered artwork and I wanted to take a risk by creating a portrait with embroidery floss. I learned the embroidering is a very intricate process; just like a human being our lives are very intricate in the sense of our experiences, how we think, and what we feel much like the stitches in the piece. The lines, color, repetition, and texture tell a persons’ story and is able to create a balanced composition.
